SITE COORDINATOR: Kristen Justice (2nd Year)

ABOUT KRISTEN: I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Family & Community Services from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. My experiences include working as a Program Coordinator within a Child Care Resource and Referral agency, a School Social Worker with middle school children, and as the Kindergarten Coordinator at an after school program in Newton. I’m continue in my role of Combination Teacher this year, working at the Early Childhood Program a few mornings each week.  I look forward to a great year!

TEACHERS: Cheryl Moy (12th Year), Steve Newlands (21st Year), Rachel Scanlon (4th Year), & Stella Jun (2nd Year)

ABOUT CHERYL:  For the last 15 years, I’ve worked in the office and with students at the Sprague School in addition to working afternoons at WCCC.  Before that I taught an after school program in Framingham, where my children attended elementary school.  Each summer, I have fun working with the students at WCCC’s Early Childhood Program; it’s amazing to get to know them as preschoolers and then see them move onto elementary school and be able to work with them there. In my free time, I enjoy following all the Boston sports teams.

ABOUT STEVE: This will be my 21st year at the After School Program!  This year I’ll also be continuing with my role managing the IT needs of WCCC. When not working, I am usually riding my bike, playing with my son (who is entering the middle school this year), trying to finish my old house, or playing with our dog and two cats.

ABOUT RACHEL: I began my time at WCCC at the Bates site.  Last year I worked at Upham, and this year I’m excited to be back at Bates.  I grew up in Wellesley and enjoy working in my hometown.

ABOUT STELLA: I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education and Master’s Degrees in Special Education as well as Education Policy.  Previously, I worked with children in a Special Education program, and also with school-aged children for their enrichment in academics.  I started working at WCCC as an assistant teacher in the Early Childhood Program’s Purple Room this past summer.  I am very excited to be at Bates and in the Blue Room as a combination teacher this year!  In my free time, I sing in a choir, and love traveling and spending time with friends.

ABOUT DAN: I grew up in Natick and attended Boston College. I love the outdoors, animals and sports, and I’ve worked with kids all my life.  I’m excited for the opportunity to get to know all of the kids at after school in my role as Floating Site Coordinator!  I am also a combination teacher in the Early Childhood Program’s Purple Room.  Previously, I was Co-Site Coordinator of our 3rd-5th grade program at Upham.

FLOATING TEACHERS: John Bradley (3rd Year), Jared Lanyon (9th Year), Nicole Little (9th Year), Ali Moss (3rd Year), & Stephen Pfaff (1st Year)

ABOUT JOHN: I graduated from Mass Bay Community College with a degree in Human Services. This past summer I worked at Tenacre Summer camp in Wellesley as a second grade counselor.  I previously worked as a senior counselor at the Wellesley Recreation Department’s Camp Joey.  One of my favorite after school activities with the children is playing sports in the gym and outside!  In my free time I love to play basketball and golf and take my dog on long walks and hikes.

ABOUT NICOLE: I am a graduate of Providence College and with a degree in secondary education and social studies.  Prior to WCCC, I worked at a charter middle school and was a long-term substitute at Bates.  This is my 9th year at after school and I have enjoyed getting to know so many wonderful children and their families!  Outside of work, I enjoy shopping and spending time with friends and family, especially my son, Brayden and daughter, Vivian.

ABOUT ALI: I graduated from McDaniel College with a Bachelor’s in Spanish and moved to Boston to pursue my Masters in Education from Simmons College. I started my teaching career as a public school Spanish teacher and then welcomed the opportunity to move to a community-oriented setting. This year I’ll be floating at the ECP in the mornings, which will allow me to spend time with various age groups, and I consider it a privilege to help so many different children across WCCC learn and grow every day. Outside of work, I enjoy playing volleyball, watching movies and theater, and any and all Jodi Picoult books!

ABOUT JARED: I enjoy motivating children and teaching them while learning new activities and interacting with the WCCC community. My favorite WCCC activities are dodgeball, football, and “moon monster” tag. I also like to teach art, especially drawing. I’m looking forward to an awesome school year!
